Internationalization of Global economy has opened many challenges and opportunities for a firm to expand its business activities worldwide. While on the one hand barriers are being removed to get market access in economies, which hitherto were facing entry restrictions, on the other hand the opening of markets has led to fierce competition thereby affecting the profit margin and survival of the firms. Empirical evidence shows that firms that have kept pace with the latest global developments on policy and trade coupled with national policies on trade and benefits & facilities attached thereto have grown faster and sustained their profit levels. It is against this background that IBA has developed and designed a 3-day Workshop on Export Marketing, Procedure & Documentation to facilitate the existing and new firms, especially in the Small Scale Sector, to understand the intricacies in a simplified way on various facets of export activity.
Exports are a national priority for every nation – be it a developed, developing, or an underdeveloped economy. Though promotional measures announced by the Government of India since 2004 have resulted into a robust growth of around 25 per cent per annum lot more needs to be done if appropriate skills and techniques on exports are imbibed to the executives in the SMEs and Cottage Sector. It has been observed that though the major contribution to the export effort of the country comes from the SMEs/Cottage Sector but the fruits are taken by the middlemen for lack of awareness on venturing into exports and the benefits attached thereto.
